Chen Xi pay a visit to our Institute

Mr. Chen Xi, Deputy Secretary cum Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education has paid an official visit to inspect and provide education guidance to Raffles Design Institute, Shanghai, on July 24, 2009. Lin Hui Qing, Party Member of Ministry of Education cum Assistant to Minister, Wei Shi Qiang, Deputy Director of Personnel Department of Ministry of Education, Niu Yan Bing, Deputy Inspector of Tertiary Education Department directly affiliated to Ministry of Education, Wang Qi, Deputy Director of Shanghai Education Committee and Leaders from Dong Hua University including Xu Ming Zhi, Pu Jie Ming, Zhu Shi Geng, Chen Tian Chu, Song Li Qun companied with him during this inspection visit.
Mr. Scott Chew, Deputy CEO cum President of China, Raffles Education Corporation represented all the school faculties to extend warmest welcome and greatest appreciation to Deputy Minister Chen Xi, who spent time out of his hectic schedule visiting our school. Mr. Chew also made a brief report to the Deputy Minister on the development situation of the school in the previous years, history of school running and characteristics of teaching and learning of Raffles Design Institute. Under the leadership of Raffles Education Corporation, Raffles Design Institute was founded in 1994 which was jointly built up by Raffles Design Institute, Singapore and Dong Hua University. The school has introduced advanced international education mode, adopted full English speaking as teaching language delivered by foreign lecturers and successfully nurtured more than 6,000 excellent talents for the society. Most of the school graduates work for well-known enterprises like Nike, Cartier, Ogilvy & Mather, and Standard Chartered Bank etc. Our graduates have won wide recognition and positive appraisal. At present, Raffles Design Institute will continue to strive and explore the new development on the road of joint venture education.
Deputy Minister Chen Xi paid close attention to the reports and also visited Centre of Professional Development and different department offices in turn. He kindly communicated with school lecturers, and found out detailed information on school admission, students administration and management. While inspecting classroom delivery, he observed drafting lecture of Fashion Design department outside classroom to avoid disturbing students. Just next to the drafting class, another case study lesson of Business Administration department conducted by foreign lecturer was in progress. The lively class atmosphere drew his attention and the Deputy Minister also passionately participated into the interactive communication with the class.
During the process of inspection, Deputy Minister Chen Xi expressed full recognition of advanced international teaching mode and sound teaching environment of Raffles Design Institute. He encouraged RDI to continue to strive to nurture more qualified international excellent talents for the society and make more contributions to the harmonious development of the society.
